As we have said before, VidCon is great because you people make it great. Thank you again to all of those who took the time to fill out the 2012 post-event survey. As promised, five community winners and one industry winner were randomly selected out of those who completed the survey. If we could give a free ticket to everyone who filled out a survey, we totally would. Unfortunately, until the world runs on smiles and awesomeness, that’s just not possible.
The winners are:
Community Winners:
-
1. Evan Lancaster
2. Shalyn Tchir
3. Ally Heman
4. Matthew Henderson
5. Sydney Hale
Industry Winner:
-
1. John Warhol
If you are one of the lucky winners, click here to see what your ticket is all about.
To our lucky winners – The VidCon Team will be reaching out to you directly to give you instructions on how to register for your complimentary ticket. You will not be able to register until Monday, October 22 at 1:00 PM. I can’t register until Monday either!
We hope to see you all in Anaheim!

WOW! I never win anything! The last time I won anything was in 1989 at Barnacle Bill’s Grog Shop’s Halloween costume party. If you go there, yes, that’s my picture on the wall. Most of the Nerdfighters weren’t even born in ’89! Wow! Wait, I did win Best Poster at the 2002 International Hernia Congress, but this is way more cool. Not that I have a hernia, I just made the poster.
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you VidCon!

I’ve been thinking … I did win a goldfish at the school fair in the third grade, where you had to throw a ping pong ball in a little bowl with the goldfish in it. I got to take the goldfish home in a plastic baggie. This is so much way better than that!

Thank you, John and Hank, for the inspiration. MicroMinutes is up and running on YouTube, providing everything that’s cool about microbiology in under 2 minutes. And, as of today, my “Episode 1: The Introduction” is the most popular video on the American Society for Microbiology web site. Perhaps more importantly, saying that I have the most popular video on the ASM web site is the nerdiest thing I have ever said.
Now, everybody go out and learn microbiology!
